Who We Are:
The Jaycees are an organization of people age 18 to 40. Other than this age requirement and approval by the Board of Directors, there are no other restrictions on becoming a member. We have members that are realtors, cashiers, administrative assistants, CSI specialists, accountants, engineers, attorneys, and other professions. A few members live outside the Modesto area in fact; one of our members is from Minnesota!
Past Jaycees that have exceeded the age requirement are known as "Alumni" they are very valuable resources but are limited in their activities within the chapter.
What We Do:
We run a large number of fun activities
and projects throughout the year. Through
these projects, we meet many other people
in the area. Some chapter activities are
just for fun; some are designed to teach a
unique skill; some serve the community;
others are organized to raise funds,
either for the chapter or for a community
organization. To learn more about our
activities and projects, check out both
our on-line newsletter and calendar of
events.
Where We Hold Activities:
We schedule our activities and projects throughout the Modesto area. Sometimes we meet at members' residences (e.g. New Member Orientation Dinners), and sometimes we meet at restaurants & other locations. However, we occasionally travel to other parts of California for conventions and other activities (e.g. Wine Trip, Salmon Feed, etc.).
On the second Wednesday of each month, we meet at
Hero's Sports Lounge for our General Membership Meetings (GMM’s); the social starts at 6:30 pm, and the meeting starts at 7:00 pm (lasts about an hour or so). The meetings are open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.
Why We Hold Activities:
The Jaycees are a leadership organization that emphasizes community service. Through all of our fun activities and helpful projects, we are learning leadership skills to make us better citizens. The Jaycees provides opportunities for personal growth that may not otherwise be available to our members. It is our hope that our members will remain community leaders after their tenure in the Jaycees.
